Brave Girls

We received the Brave Girls Bible Stories book a while ago to review, and I was very impressed by my daughter’s enthusiasm for this Bible story book. There are some books which are enjoyed once or twice, but once the curiosity has been satisfied and the story has been read, interest wanes. Not so with Brave Girls. There are 206 pages, 31 stories, plus mini-biographies of each of the modern girls to read. This story book is meant for girls ages 4 – 8.

Girls ages 6 through 10 can continue their journey as a brave girl with help from 90-day devotionals from Tommy Nelson. I reviewed two of these in March 2015: Brave Girls: Better Than Perfect and Brave Girls: Faithful Friends.  And in May 2016, I reviewed Brave Girls: Beautiful You.  I highly recommend all of these books!

The New Brave Girls Devotional

New from Tommy Nelson Publishers is the Brave Girls 365-Day Devotional.  It features a brief but meaningful devotion for each day of the year. The topics were chosen specifically for contemporary girls aged 6 to 10, and are both challenging and encouraging.  For those not familiar with the Brave Girls, there is an introduction at the beginning of the book where you can “meet” them!  It is also a nice, compact size for smaller hands.  (Alright, I’ll just say it – it’s cute!)

Each day’s topic includes a relevant Bible verse and a “Prayer Pointer” – essentially a way to get started praying if your child isn’t sure how.  This is a wonderful book to read with your child each day, or for older girls to read for themselves.  Several of the devotions are interactive – the reader responds by writing her thoughts in spaces provided, answering true/false questions, and more.

It’s Not Fair

Wait and trust the Lord. Don’t be upset when others get rich or when someone else’s plans succeed. ~ Psalm 37:7 (ICB)

….The truth is that life isn’t always fair. But what we do with that unfairness makes all the difference. Do we whine and sulk or throw a temper tantrum?….God wants us to trust Him. He sees the unfairness…But God has a plan to use it.  He’ll take all that unfairness, frustration, and sadness, and He’ll use it to make us more like Him.  We’ll learn patience, kindness, and contentment. And even though life isn’t always fair, with God by our side, life is fabulous! ~ From the Brave Girls 365-Day Devotional
