I am excited to announce that I am now a Tommy Nelson Mommy! This means that I will be bringing you new reviews and giveways each month from one of my favorite children’s book publishers. Look for two more this month for two My Story books and a Max Lucado Hermie & Friends DVD.
My preschooler and I read the sweet book 12 Little Blessings today, written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen, and illustrated by Donna Chapman. Featuring the cute little characters from Dayspring’s Really Woolly® series, the book counts down from “12 soaring birds” to “1 great God” who “made just one me.” One thing I love about 12 Little Blessings is that it includes a scripture and a prayer with each blessing. Among my favorite verses for children is Zephaniah 3:17, the scripture for Blessing 1:
The Lord will be happy with you… He will sing and be joyful about you.
– Zephaniah 3:17
My daughter loves counting books and rhymes, and this book combines both with beautiful illustrations. She sat very attentively as I read each blessing, scripture, and prayer, then enjoyed counting the objects on the page. This is a wonderful way to introduce Bible verses, and to remind children of God’s unconditional love for them!
Counting blessings – one, two, three…
The Lord is always good to me!
I see the flowers, feel the rain…
The drops tap on my windowpane.
All God does to show His love
Is how He hugs me from above.
– Excerpt from 12 Little Blessings
