God Bless Our Country Children’s Book Review

God Bless Our Country CoverHappy Memorial Day!  My sincere thanks to our Veterans who have sacrificed so much to keep our country free.  You are appreciated!

Are you looking for a way to show your appreciation to an active duty or wounded solder?  Operation Gratitude makes it easy!  I crocheted two scarves and gathered a few other essentials and sent a box recently.  My daughter and nieces enjoyed making some thank you cards and colored some patriotic coloring pages, and we put those in the box too.

A donation box makes a great classroom project too!  Check out their web site to get started.  (Make sure to fill out their donation form, and you will received a tax receipt.)

God Bless Our Country Children’s Book Review

From Hannah C. Hall comes another adorable book for toddlers and preschoolers in the God Bless….. series: God Bless Our Country. If you enjoyed the books God Bless Our Easter, God Bless Our Christmas, or God Bless My Boo Boo, you will be sure to like this one, too. (Read my review of God Bless Our Easter at this link.)

Filled with happy critters enjoying time with their families, this book offers a great way to introduce the idea of patriotism and gratefulness for our freedom to your little critters! I love the rhymes throughout the book, which remind us in a fun way to thank God for our blessings:

God showers goodness on this land –

No place I’d rather be.

This home I love, from God above.

God bless our free country!

My daughter was drawn to the illustrations by Steve Whitlow in all of the books. There is something very soothing and happy about them. If you like to read themed books to your children throughout the year, this is a great one to add to your bookshelf for Memorial Day and Independence Day.
