Brave Girls ~ Beautiful You ~ Devotional Review

Brave Girls Cover

Summer is here!  I’ve been taking a bit of a blogging break lately – but now we’ve gotten through ballet recitals, choir concerts, soccer awards, Kindergarten graduation ….. whew!  I’m looking forward to keeping my blog a little more updated than I have been recently!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post, but was given a free book to review. I am an affiliate of Amazon, and will receive a small commission if a link on this page is used to make a purchase.

Tommy Nelson has a new Brave Girls Devotional out called Beautiful You – scroll down for the review and giveaway!  And if you have a toddler or preschooler, don’t miss the just-posted review and giveaway for God Bless Our Country (the giveaway for this book ends on June 12).

Brave Girls

We received the Brave Girls Bible Stories book a while ago to review, and I was very impressed by my daughter’s enthusiasm for this Bible story book. There are some books which are enjoyed once or twice, but once the curiosity has been satisfied and the story has been read, interest wanes. Not so with Brave Girls. There are 206 pages, 31 stories, plus mini-biographies of each of the modern girls to read.  This story book is meant for girls ages 4 – 8.

Girls ages 6 through 10 can continue their journey as a brave girl with help from 90-day devotionals from Tommy Nelson.  I reviewed two of these in March 2015: Brave Girls: Better Than Perfect and Brave Girls: Faithful Friends.

Beautiful You: The Devotional

Most girls (and women) desire to be beautiful.  In Beautiful You, girls are encouraged with the truth that they are beautiful in their Father God’s eyes. With chapter titles such as “Beauty Basics,” “Works of Beauty,” and “Beautifully Clothed,” the one – to two-page devotions are written at an age-appropriate level. Each begins with a relevant scripture verse and ends with a “Prayer Pointer” to jump-start your prayer life.  Fun, interactive opportunities are also provided throughout the book.

Although brief, the devotions are to the point and contain essential truths for a child’s life journey.  Beautiful You concentrates on the beauty found on the inside of a believer in Jesus.

When you put your trust in Jesus, His love shines out of you and lights up the world – like a candle in a dark room.  And that love frees you to be exactly the person God designed you to be, without having to look a certain way or be like everybody else.  You’re beautiful because God created you and is making you more like His Son, Jesus, every day!

~ From the Introduction

As soon as my daughter saw the cover she said “Oh, I like those girls!” She remembered them from the Bible Stories Book!  (See above.)  I’m looking forward to giving all three devotionals to my daughter within the next year or so.

These books really do have the potential to arm girls with truth and help them be confident in their relationship with Jesus.
