Building God’s Kingdom Books For Children ~ Review

Building Gods Kingdom books

“They’re here! They’re here!”

Our big book package from Tommy Nelson arrived the other day, and as I opened it, M pointed excitedly and exclaimed “they’re here, they’re here!”  (She had seen the preview email with the pictures.)  Even though I have a girly girl, she enjoys building toys, and stories about talking construction equipment!  These books are from the new Building God’s Kingdom series for little boys.

We enjoyed reading both Diggit Saves the Day and Tipper Tells a Lie.  In the first book, Diggit helps save a baby squirrel and learns to be kind.  I like how the story points out that a creature in need is often more important than a list of “things to do today.”  Sometimes it’s difficult to interrupt our schedule!  This book compassionately but simply encourages kids to think of others.

In the second book, Tipper tells a lie out of expediency – it doesn’t seem to be a big deal at first. But, the lie produces stress in Tipper, and eventually causes a lot of trouble for he and his friends.  At the end, fortunately, he confesses his lie and his buddies forgive him.  A great example of true friendship, and grace when we mess up!  Tipper Tells A Lie also features several road signs – adding an opportunity for a little education on road safety!

Gift Quality

I was a little surprised at the very nice embossed hardback covers – these are definitely gift-quality board books.  They are recommended for children ages 3 through 7, but in my opinion the top age is probably 6.  Diggit Saves the Day and Tipper Tells a Lie are available to order for $9.00 each. (List Price is $9.99 each.)
