I have been a fan of Sheila Walsh as a speaker and singer for years. Last year, a friend gave my daughter Gigi, God’s Little Princess by Sheila Walsh, and M just loved it, and I enjoyed reading it to her (again and again…). We found one of the DVDs a few months later and she was thrilled. When the package came from Tommy Nelson containing Sheila Walsh’s devotional Bible, my little preschooler was awed by the glitter and jewels on the cover. Glitter and jewels are very important to 4-year-olds. This Bible also contains a lot of the color PINK. Need I say more?

Although she is a little young for the devotions, M is happy to have a “real” Bible in addition to her wonderful Bible storybooks. I will most likely supervise her with it for a little while, because the pages are very thin (just like a “real” Bible). The illustrations are charming throughout the devotional pages – they are just like the illustrations in the Gigi books. If your daughter is a fan, she will find these familiar and enjoy them.

Gods Little Princess Bible Sheila Walsh Inside

Over The Top?

We tell our daughter she is a little princess because she is God’s child. She enjoys Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Elsa and Anna in the Disney movies. She’ll listen to any “princess story” that I read to her. I even created a set of Princess Printables for her and posted it on this blog. Once in awhile, however, I feel the whole princess thing is getting a little over the top, and I try to back away from it for a bit. The media and marketplace can encourage girls to focus on themselves too much. The devotions in this Bible are refreshing because they remind us to keep our devotion and trust in God, and not on ourselves!

There are brief one-page devotions edited by Sheila Walsh throughout the book. Also included is a special 13-week Bible study aimed at girls ages 7-10. If you teach a Sunday School class or Bible Study, you could probably stretch it to ages 6 – 11.

Are you afraid sometimes, little princess? Are you trying to run the world your way and getting upset when it doesn’t work? Don’t bother. Instead, trust God and relax in His loving arms as He works out all things for your good.

I like the fact that it is a New King James Version, because this version is one of the two with which I am the most familiar, and it is wonderful for Bible study. If you are looking for a full-text Bible for the little girl in your life, I recommend God’s Little Princess Bible: New King James Version, especially if you are a fellow fan of Sheila Walsh!
