I have loved reading and studying history since I was in elementary school, and it is a subject I look forward to teaching when my daughter is older. (Now we read preschool-age-appropriate books and visit children’s museums so that she can get a sense of the past.)  I enjoy inspirational quotes, especially when I know at least a little about the individual who said it, and the context in which the quote was made.  The quotes in this post are from Sir Winston Churchill, one of the iconic figures of World War II.Churchill_portrait_NYP_45063 from Wikipedia

Sir Winston Churchill held many political and cabinet positions in Great Britain before becoming Prime Minister in 1940.  He held the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955.  Considered one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century, he inspired courage in his fellow Britons as he guided the country through World War II.
