Hermie & Friends “I Will Trust God” DVD ~ A Review

My daughter and I were happy to return home yesterday and find our package from Tommy Nelson Publishers on the front porch.  Since we had just come from a Doctor visit, the books and Hermie & Friends DVD came just in time to cheer up a sick preschooler!  After a few minutes we settled in on the couch with our blanket and snacks, and turned on our new Hermie movie.  I Will Trust God actually includes two stories: Hermie and the High Seas and Who Is In Charge Anyway?

Trusting God, No Matter What

We have had the original Hermie movie for quite some time – probably since M was about two.  She loves Hermie and Wormie, and has asked to see A Common Caterpillar several times over the last couple of years.  One thing that I love about children’s stories with a good moral lesson is that the message is usually presented without condemnation or judgment.  And if the message is wrapped up in God’s love, even better.  As a Mom I desperately desire the best for my child, and I know that can only come through Jesus. So, I love that the Hermie movies deliver thoughtful, gentle reminders of who God is and how much He loves us individually.  The creator of Hermie & Friends, Max Lucado, is one of my favorite authors.  He is especially good at describing the love of God and making Him very personal.

Having faith is hard when you don’t know what’s going to happen.

– Hermie

I can relate to this quote from Hermie!  Sometimes I am reminded of an important truth while my daughter is learning it for the first time.  The main theme in Hermie and the High Seas is “I can trust God, no matter what happens.”    In Who Is In Charge Anyway?, kids learn that God gave each of us our own special talents and abilities.  Although the animation isn’t very sophisticated (my daughter didn’t seem to mind), the stories move along at a nice pace for children.  The songs are entertaining, and the characters are likeable, too.

The I Will Trust God DVD (containing both full-length episodes) is available for $12.99 at this link on the Thomas Nelson web site.  Please be sure to enter the giveaway for the DVD below, and don’t miss the giveaway for the 12 Little Blessings Book which ends at midnight on March 3.
