While researching an article on Martha Washington, I came across the digital archives of the New York Public Library. What a find! I’m sure I will be returning to the site often. An invaluable resource for researching historical figures and events, the image database encompasses a wide range of historical eras and subjects, including the applied sciences, fine and decorative arts, history, performing arts, and social sciences.
“NYPL Digital Gallery provides free and open access to over 800,000 images digitized from the The New York Public Library’s vast collections, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints, photographs and more.”
